Eligibility
Members of FCC are in 7th through 12th grade and are from Fairport or other towns that do not have a rowing program.
Dues
Dues are paid with registration for each separate season – Winter Conditioning, Spring and Fall. FCC is a non-profit organization funded by participation fees, donations, and fundraising. If a rower needs financial assistance, you can contact Kelly Whalen. Put “membership” in the subject line.
Uniforms
Varsity rowers and coxswains are required to have a uni for racing. Unis are ordered at the beginning of the Winter Conditioning, and the beginning of Fall season. Unis are measured to fit each individual; they are approximately $110. There are often used unis for sale through the FCC Clothing Store.
Novice rowers are required to wear the red Fairport Crew t-shirts as their racing uniform.
Team Travel
Travel fees are not included in program dues; these are paid separately. In the Fall, the team travels to Saratoga for a one-night overnight trip to compete in the Head of the Fish regatta. Travel costs may include bus transportation, hotel, and food. In the Spring, the team travels to Saratoga for the NYS Championship regatta. This is a 2-night trip and travel costs may include bus transportation, hotel, and food. Bus transportation may not be possible if the team does not have enough rowers. Travel costs are separate from dues and are calculated based on actual costs.
Parent Obligations
Parent volunteer work is required for each participant of Fairport Crew Club – we are a member-run organization that requires parent volunteers for many of the events and activities that make up each season. Each family is required to sign up for volunteer tasks; sign-up sheets will be posted at the Parent-Rower meeting. Please review the volunteer opportunities on the volunteering page of the website.
Fundraising
The Row for Community fundraiser and Community service program will be announced at the beginning of the Spring Season. ALL Fairport Crew Club participants are required to take part in both the Row for Community and fall fundraising activities. Details, including dates, times, and sign-up opportunities will be announced. Fundraising is crucial to keeping the cost of dues down and in our ability to maintain quality equipment.
Practice Notes:
— Written notes are required for absences from practice – please get notes to coaches BEFORE practice time.
— Please contact your coach in advance if you will be missing a practice due to illness.
— Race week rule: 100% attendance is required the week before a regatta unless an athlete personally speaks to their coach regarding a school or religious issue.
