Winter Conditioning and Spring Season

Winter Conditioning

Winter Conditioning for the Spring Season begins in early-Feb and ends in late April, with a transition into the competitive Spring season. The focus of Winter Conditioning is on learning and improving technique both on the erg and in the rowing tanks, as well as strength training and fitness.  Practices are held at the FCC Fitness Center located in the Country Club Plaza to the right of Big Lots, and at the Pittsford Indoor Rowing Tanks (PIRC) located on Clover St. Multiple training disciplines are incorporated into this program including erg workouts, weights, calisthenics, balance ball and more.  Winter conditioning is required for participation in the Spring competitive season.

Spring Season

Spring season begins in mid-April and is usually marked by rowing on water. We have recently had to start rowing on the Genesee River and then once the Erie Canal fills with enough water we can row out of our boathouse. The regatta schedule begins immediately with Sprint style racing on courses of 1,200-2,000 meters in length. Racing is conducted in heats, with competitors starting side-by-side racing to cross the finish line first. Fairport Crew Club often competes in a regatta each weekend in May, including the State Championship regatta in Saratoga, NY.  Spring season usually runs through early June.
